Public Announcement regarding FY2025 Nuclear Disaster Prevention Drill（Part 2）【English,Chinese,Korean,Vietnamese】

This is a drill.

Today at 2 pm, an earthquake with a maximum seismic intensity of 7 (M7.2) occurred
off the western coast of the Satsuma peninsula. Sendai Nuclear Power Station reactors
1&2 automatically stopped and external power was lost.

Concurrently, a coolant leak occurred at Unit 2 reactor. Currently, both reactors 1&2
are being supplied with power by emergency diesel generator, and the reactors are being
cooled by water supplied to the steam generators.

At this time, there are no abnormal readings from the environmental radiation
monitoring stations installed around Sendai Nuclear Power Station.

At 7 AM, Kagoshima Prefecture established the Prefectural Disaster Management
Headquarters at Satsumasendai City’s Off-Site Center. Municipal Disaster Management
Headquarters were also established concurrently in Satsumasendai City,
Ichikikushikino City, Akune City, Kagoshima City, Izumi City, Hioki City, Aira City,
Satsuma Town, and Nagashima Town.
