Public Announcement regarding FY2025 Nuclear Disaster Prevention Drill（Part 4）【English,Chinese,Korean,Vietnamese】

This is a drill.

Kyushu Electric Power Company’s Sendai Nuclear Power Station has released the following
notification: “At 8:35 AM, the amount of leakage of primary coolant of Sendai Nuclear Power
Station Unit 2 has increased, and although the High-Pressure Coolant Injection System
(ECCS) was activated, the water injection pump failed.”

This notification is pursuant to Article 10 of the Act on Special Measures Concerning Nuclear
Emergency Preparedness, as well as the triggering of the Site Area Emergency classification
level of the Nuclear Emergency Response Guideline. As a result, as of 4:45 pm, the national
government, prefectural government, and relevant local governments have requested the
following:

1. Persons in the PAZ who require special assistance should shelter indoors with their
caregivers until able to safely evacuate, and when evacuation preparations are
completed, receive the distributed dose of stable iodine and evacuate. However,
those who risk increased health concerns by evacuating should shelter indoors with
their caregivers.
2. Residents in the PAZ (excluding persons who require special care) should prepare
to evacuate. Additionally, preparations should begin to facilitate evacuation: the
opening of evacuation bus meeting points, and necessary preparations for
distributing stable iodine.
3. Residents in the UPZ should prepare to shelter indoors. Additionally, preparations
should begin for facilities to accept those who need to shelter indoors as necessary.
4. Residents and temporary visitors within the Sendai NPS PAZ and UPZ should pay
attention to information from disaster announcement systems, radio, TV, etc.

In response to the national government’s request, Kagoshima Prefecture has issued a
message from the governor asking for all residents to act in accordance with the national
government’s request.

At this time, there are no abnormal readings from the environmental radiation monitoring
stations installed around Sendai Nuclear Power Station.

We will keep you informed as necessary, so please pay attention to information via disaster
prevention wireless broadcasts, radio, TV, emergency alert emails, Kagoshima Prefecture’s
Genshiryoku Bousai app, etc., and please calmly follow the instructions of your local
municipal government.
